Every Woman’s Advocate!
Advocate Supreme Court of India Founder President – Nari Shakti Ek Nayi Pahal Foundation, Author, Educator and Motivational Speaker speaks to Gurbeer Singh
Q. You are highly educated. Our readers would like to know more about your educational achievements.
BA, LLB, LLM, MBA, CS, Ph.D. Additionally, I have 6 diplomas in IPC, CRPC, Evidence, CPC, Contract Act and Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
What is your topmost priority as the founder and president of Nari Shakti Ek Nayi Pahal Foundation?
My topmost priorities have always been women’s safety and empowerment. Currently, we are a team of 2 lakhs + members with legal, media and social work background. We are fighting for the justice of all female victims or girls who are unable to afford the journey of justice. Along with this, we also are running initiatives to educate the girl child
Q. Why you chose to be an advocate?
Being an advocate was not a dream but a commitment which I took up at a very early stage of my life. While picking up the newspaper, the headlines were rarely encouraging and rather devastating. I always wondered if the victims ever got their justice and that is how the journey started.
Q. What are the must-have qualities of a successful Supreme Court advocate?
Not just an advocate, but to be in any field and to be successful there, the first thing anyone needs is his/her dedication towards what they are doing. As an advocate, I would suggest the most important is listening, you have to be a great listener to understand your clients.
Q. You are the Director General of Nupur LJLNU & Associates. What are the key features of this initiative?
The key feature is the existence of an all-in-one legal platform for the advocates in one place. Reference, case studies, judgements, and much more are available with just one click. The aim is to create the largest legalpedia globally.
Q. According to you, how aware are women of their legal rights? What are your suggestions to those women who do not get support from their families?
We can see awareness in many places. But again, the awareness is either not complete or they fail to reach the majority. Awareness about their legal rights should be a mandatory chapter in every school from a very primary stage. For women who do not get support from their families, our helpline number is always there. We are your legal family.
Q. In the present scenario, we see many atrocities against women like domestic violence and harassment in the workplace. How can they approach you for justice?
The first move is that each woman should stand up for herself. Once she is aware of her legal rights, no one will have enough courage to harass or molest her. Speak out about your problem, with your family, friends, or us. Being silent on such issues is like giving an invitation to a bigger problem.
Q. You are an achiever of different world records. Please share more about it. What were the challenges you overcame in your journey?
Major achievement is the world record made by Nari Shakti Ek Nayi Pahal Foundation. The foundation has helped 300+ rape victims free of cost.
Another world record has been made by Nupur Latest Judgements and Legal News Updates for being the biggest legal platform with 2 lakhs + members with almost 6 groups on Facebook and 6 groups on WhatsApp
Q. You are a renowned motivational speaker. Which topic do you often speak on?
Girls (Women’s) Self Protection, Crime Against Women.
Q. What is your experience and what are your achievements as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of India?
Our major achievements are through the NGO, where we have brought justice to more than 800 victims of violence which include 300+ rape victims, completely free of cost. Corona had taken such a big chunk of our media, that this news was completely neglected, our achievements mainly came during the time of the COVID-19 lockdown
Q. How do you attain work-life balance?
Being a mother you would always find a way to balance your life. For me, my work is my life, so you can say it is easier for me than most women out there.
Q. What are your priorities for social work, especially for women empowerment as a legal expert?
My priorities are the reason for building Nari Shakti EK Nayi Pahal Foundation. Women’s Safety, Women Empowerment, and justice for crime against women.
Q. Who inspired you the most in your life?
Initially my parents and later my husband.
