SAIL undertakes CSR on International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the distribution of Assistive Device

post-image-1New Delhi: On the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the Maharatna Steel Public Sector, distributed assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjans) across its Plants/Units and Corporate Office at New Delhi. SAIL has engaged Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to undertake this Priority Programme under SAIL’s
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Smt. Soma Mondal, Chairman of SAIL along with other senior officials of the company was present during the event in New Delhi. This priority programme of SAIL will be held across several locations in the country, mostly in the areas of operation of SAIL, in a phased manner under ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The Divyangjans are being empowered through assistive aids like tricycle, motorized tricyles, smart canes & smartphones for visually impaired and hearing aids among others. Currently, SAIL supports various focused facilities dedicated to Divyangjans at its plant locations viz ‘School for Blind, Deaf and Mentally challenged children’ and ‘Home and Hope’ at Rourkela, ‘Ashalata Kendra’ at Bokaro, ‘Handicapped Oriented Education Program’ and ‘Durgapur Handicapped Happy Home’ at Durgapur, and ‘Cheshire Home’ at Burnpur.

Greenzo Energy India Limited brings Green Hydrogen Technology to Gujarat

New Delhi: based Greenzo Energy India Limited will be setting up a state-of-the-art plant for manufacturing electrolysers and the balance of plant (BOP) for generating green hydrogen in the world-class Sanand-II Industrial Estate, a part of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gujarat. For the same, the company has received an investment commitment of one million USD from Real Time Accelerator Fund (SEBI-approved Category 1 AIF). The Fund has decided to appoint Amit Singal (Founding Partner, Fluid Ventures) as investors’ nominee director on the board of the company.

Sandeep Agarwal, Founder & MD of Greenzo Energy India Limited, is driven by the latest developments and aims to provide end-to-end solutions for green hydrogen production and storage. “This synergy is a big spark to start the development towards green hydrogen generation. We aim at setting up a cost-effective green electrolysis plant, supporting green hydrogen projects, and making our nation self-sufficient in the hydrogen initiative,” he said.

The company has applied for 20000 sq.mt. of land through the GIDC portal and is planning to route the initial investment towards market research, business development, lab equipment, technology evaluation, and appointing an able workforce.

Commenting on the funding, Pranay Mathur, CEO of Real Time Accelerator Fund said, “We are delighted to be part of the green field. This investment will not only benefit green fuel production and carbon footprint reduction, but it will also be a significant step toward providing a good quality of life to our future generation”. The company has signed an MOU for project engineering with UK-based public limited companies Whereas, for technological support, post-image-1it will be joining hands with its in-house team of ex-officers of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and technology mavericks from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). It is noteworthy to mention that Greenzo Energy Private Limited had launched this initiative, and the same promoters have now formed a public limited company, i.e. Greenzo Energy India Limited, which will be focused only on the renewable energy sector to develop the latest innovation in green hydrogen in India.

L&T Construction awarded contracts for its Water and Effluent Treatment Business

Mumbai: The Water and Effluent Treatment Business of L&T Construction has secured a prestigious order from the Tumakuru Industrial Township Limited (TITL) under the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and repeat orders from the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD Board),
Government of Tamil Nadu, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The order from TITL is to Design, Construct, Test, Commission, Operate and Maintain infrastructure works at the Tumakuru Node, Karnataka on an EPC basis. The scope of work involves design and construction of 38 km of roads along with storm water drains, cross drainage structures, portable and recycled water supply systems, sewerage and effluent collection network, power distribution system including street lighting, 7 MLD water treatment plant, 3 MLD sewerage treatment plant, 2.5 MLD common effluent treatment plant, service reservoirs and Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) Building including operation and maintenance of the complete system for a period of four years. This project is part of the Government
of India’s flagship program of ‘Development of Industrial Corridors’ under the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), the apex body overseeing integrated development of all industrial corridors across the country. The program envisages to develop land to promote industries, residential areas, commercial complexes, logistic hubs, etc. covering a total area of 1750 acres. It also includes green cover development of 80 acres at Tumakuru. Further, the orders from TWAD Board are to provide ‘Underground Sewerage Scheme (UGSS)’ works at Coimbatore. The scope of work involves implementation of house service connections, sewerage network, pumping main, road restoration works and pumping and lift stations across Vadavalli, Veerakeralam, Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur areas to serve a population of around 3 lakhs upon completion. The Business is executing a similar UGSS project in Coimbatore and the repeat orders reinforce Customer’s trust in L&T’s capabilities.

Global renewable energy capacity set to double over next 5 years: IEA

New Delhi: Global renewable energy capacity is expected to almost double in the next five years as the ongoing energy crisis is driving a sharp acceleration of installations of renewable power projects, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said its annual report on the sector. Global renewable power capacity is expected to grow by 2,400 public limited companies Whereas, for technological support, it will be joining hands with its in-house team of ex-officers of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and technology mavericks from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). It is noteworthy to mention that Greenzo Energy Private Limited had launched this initiative, and the same promoters have now formed a public limited company, i.e. Greenzo Energy India Limited, which will be focused only on the renewable energy sector to develop the latest innovation in green hydrogen in India. gigawatts (GW) over the 2022-2027 period, which will allow it to overtake coal as the largest source of electricity generation by early 2025, the IEA said in the report “Renewables 2022” released on Tuesday. Renewables are set to account for over 90 per cent of global electricity expansion over the next five years, and will help keep alive the possibility of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees celsius, the agency said. “Renewables were already expanding quickly, but the global energy crisis has kicked them into an extraordinary new phase of even faster growth as countries seek to capitalize on their energy security benefits. The world is set to add as much renewable power in the next five years as it did in the previous 20 years,” IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said. According to the report, the amount of renewable power capacity added in Europe in the 2022-2027 period is forecast to be twice as high as in the previous five-year period, driven by a combination of energy security concerns and climate ambitions.

OIL’s CSR projects OIL Swabalamban and SDI, Guwahati bags CSR Times Award 2022

 

New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL), India’s Second largest national exploration and; production company was conferred with the CSR Times Award 2022 in the Gold category for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in the area of Skill Development viz. OIL Swabalamban and Skill Development Institute, Guwahati at the 9th CSR Times Summit and Awards ceremony held in New Delhi. Pratibha Bhowmik, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the presence of other distinguished guests presented the award. On behalf of OIL, Ranjan Goswami, CGM-PR received the award.

World Bank, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited signs Project to Scale up Innovative Renewable Energy Technologies in India

New Delhi: Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), and the World Bank have signed agreements for a $150 million IBRD loan, a $28 million Clean Technology Fund (CTF) loan and a $22 million CTF grant to help India increase its power generation capacity through cleaner, renewable energy sources. The agreement underscores the Government of India’s commitment to achieving 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy by 2030 in order to address the challenges of climate change. The agreement was signed by Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India; C. Kannan, Director of Finance, on behalf of SECI; and Hideki Mori, Operations Manager & Acting Country Director, India, World Bank. “India’s transition to renewable sources of energy is one of the most critical transitions for its future,” said Hideki Mori. “The World Bank is committed to supporting India during this transition. This project will bring an international experience in deploying new technologies to the sector and support India’s progress in adopting cleaner, renewable energy fuels.” The Project aims to address constraints in commercial investments in this sector by increasing the confidence of the various stakeholders. The Project will also help SECI increase market uptake by addressing the barriers to deploying new technologies at scale. The first solar subproject is being constructed by Battery Energy Solar Systems (BESS) in Rajnandgaon district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The second subproject which will have floating solar panels is ongoing at the Getalsud reservoir in the state of Jharkhand. India currently has an installed capacity of more than 409 GW, of which the renewable energy (non-hydro) share is almost 29 percent (119.5 GW). The project will accelerate India’s progress towards sustainable universal electricity access, which is a key milestone for achieving inclusive economic development objectives. Strengthening SECI’s capacity is critical to achieving India’s installed RE capacity by 2030 and net zero emission target by 2070. The project will support SECI with human resource and business planning, project monitoring, procurement, financial and contract management, environmental and social safeguards and financial management, among others. “SECI, the Government of India’s nodal agency, is pivotal to pushing the frontiers in mainstreaming renewable energy within the country to accelerate its energy transitions journey. This engagement attempts to introduce nascent technologies in the renewable energy sector at a relatively larger scale. The subprojects financed under this Project aim to displace fossil- fuel based generation by positioning renewable energy to meet peak power demand, establish an ecosystem to attract private sector investments, and support institutional strengthening,” said Surbhi Goyal, Senior Energy Specialist and World Bank’s Task Team Leader for the project. he $150 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has a 5-year grace period, and a maturity of 25 years. The $28 million loan from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) has a 10-year grace period, and a maturity of 40 years. The $22 million is an interest-free CTF grant.

One day Workshop on “Sustainable Co-firing of Biomass in Thermal Power Plants” was organized by DVC

Nayara Energy wins multiple accolades for excellence in CSR and Community initiatives

Organized by FICCI, the CSR Summit held on 12th December 2022 was graced by Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Government of India who presented the appreciation plaque to Nayara Energy for its flagship Project ‘Tushti’. The project reflects Nayara’s commitment to support Devbhumi Dwarka by improving nutrition parameters and achieving under-nutrition free status in the region. Under this project, a holistic approach covers various initiatives and interventions such as child malnourishment & treatment centers, home visits, health kiosks as well as education, awareness and sensitization sessions for adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to address malnutrition and under-nutrition root factors. Since its launch in 2019, the project has helped reduce malnutrition among underweight children by 70% and severely underweight children by 52%. Nayara Energy was also recognised at the 9th edition of Global Sustainability Leadership Awards held on 13th December 2022 for its significant efforts in sustainable water management under its Gram Samruddhi programme. The programme covers 15 villages in Jamnagar to create on-ground impact towards water resource management, water sufficiency, sanitation, improved agriculture practices, and sustainable livelihoods. In addition to creating additional water storage and groundwater recharge of 17.38 million cubic meters, the project has provided an income of INR 180 million for its beneficiaries.
