There is nothing quite moving as a story well told, that’s the mantra followed at philmCGI and we tell the best stories. The last ten years have been a whirlwind of countless such stories for screens and audiences across the world. We’ve collaborated with some of the greatest filmmakers, producers and artists out there – breathing life into characters and crafting narratives that last.
philmCGI is built on the backs of Animation and VFX professionals with decades of industry experience, to bridge the gap between inert technical capability and creative concept development.
Started by 2 crazy geniuses – one goofy one bald, philmCGI was conceptualized over meetings in a Safari (I don’t mean a Jungle safari but actually the car). This was the start of a new journey embarked on by our Managing Directors Anand Bhanushali & Arpan Gaglani who founded the company in 2013 from a small office located in Malad, Mumbai.
Pressure, doubt, and uncertainty of the future were many factors that kept cropping up on whether they were making the right decision of venturing into something on their own. But they kept their heads down working on all projects that came their way be it ad flms or small animation work they did it all.
philmCGI was a team of just 8 people back in 2013, but still creating the best quality work was always a priority, this led to the team bagging their first major European project in 2014. We had to expand not only our team but also our workspace and after a lot of brainstorming we finally decided that Pune was the place to be and thus began our scout to find the perfect studio location. After a lot of hunting, we finally had our hearts set on this quaint bungalow, tucked away amidst nature in the heart of the city in Koregaon Park. We slowly built our studio space giving it our very own philmy touch and at the same time, we grew from an 8-member team to nearly a 30-40 member philmy team.
The year 2014 set in motion our journey working on our frst major international project and our organic growth as a company.
The year 2020 was a stressful year not only for us but the whole world on a whole, tackling COVID was not easy. Our very capable IT/ Tech/ Pipeline team we also call them “Tech Creative Artists” went to work and in less than 2 months they created a super secure and easy pipeline by which our team could continue to work remotely from their homes which helped us deliver our projects on time.
Over a decade of steady growth with 300+ Crew delivering a variety of award-winning national and international projects in 2D Animation, and 3D CGI Animation like Oggy Oggy, Karate Sheep, Ogglies (Feature Film) and Visual Effects in Jubilee (Amazon Prime), Sacred Games (Netflix), Qala (Netfix) to name a few recent ones. As an Animation and VFX studio at the very forefront of filmmaking with over 5000 minutes of high-quality content, 75+ Projects, and 5 Full-Length Animation Features, delivered for global platforms, we are committed to entertaining and emotive storytelling with lasting and impactful content.
Our streamlined approach to systems, processes, and organization of dedicated divisions be it for Animation, VFX and IP, coupled with a fun work culture has a proven tendency to attract crazy people, which allows us to deliver captivating imagery within improbable deadlines.
